Awards and Scholarships

There are two scholarship awards available from TCART — the Student Scholarship Award and the Professional Development Award. See details below.

Student Scholarship Award

Criteria and Purpose for Selection

This award supports current student members of the Twin Cites Archives Round Table who are enrolled in a Libraries or Archives Certification program.  The goal of the scholarship is to stimulate greater participation in professional associations and to provide educational opportunities.

Eligibility

Those eligible for the award must be a TCART member currently enrolled in Libraries or Archives Certification program.  Applications will be evaluated based on a brief statement of intent and by information provided by a contact that can provide a reference for the individual. Recipients are eligible to reapply each year, but preference will be given to applicants who have not received the award previously.  Application is due October 1st.

Award

The award consists of up to $250 in support of tuition, registration, travel and accommodation expenses associated for a class, conference, symposium, or a workshop.  The award must be used for a specific purpose (e.g., class, workshop, conference attendance) and not for general education costs. The number of awards offered each year will be determined by the Board and depend on available funds in any given year.

Application Process

Applicants should describe the program, conference or other educational or professional development opportunity they are seeking funding for, and how it will be valuable or useful for them.  Supporting documentation, such as a resume or other description of career development, such as volunteer/intern experience is recommended, but not required.

Selection

The selection will be made by the TCART officers.

Award Recipients

Following the conclusion of the event for which funding was requested, the award recipient must submit a brief (150 words) describing their experience and how it was useful to them, along with proof of payment and attendance. The recipient will be reimbursed after the class/conference/symposium/workshop. If the recipient is unable to attend the event for which they have applied, they will forfeit the award.
